MEDITECH’s advanced clinical applications are more complex than typical applications to implement. Success is often dependent on factors beyond the control of Information Systems departments, thus requiring broader organizational preparedness and involvement. Navin, Haffty & Associates offers Readiness Assessment Services to help each hospital determine it’s needs in order to prepare for these projects prior to the arrival of software.

Navin, Haffty & Associates participates exclusively in the MEDITECH market. MEDITECH software has matured with changing technologies in healthcare; in our various roles, we have observed and adapted to these changes. Our approach to Readiness Assessment Services reflects the depth of this diverse knowledge, both operationally and within the application.

Within the HCIS world, the MEDITECH community is one, if not the only, user community that is not controlled by the utilized vendor. As such, various community forums, such as Listservs, MIX, MUSE, and CHIME, have evolved over time. Although these groups were created for MEDITECH users, it has been challenging to navigate the differences among them. Navin, Haffty & Associates understands and appreciates the uniqueness within the MEDITECH community. We leverage our long term contacts within the industry, as well as our existing client relationships, to efficiently and effectively represent our clients and evoke positive change in our engagements. Education of the client is key throughout this process, to insure the best utilization of the MEDITECH systems.

When the Leapfrog Group identified CPOE as a must-do task within healthcare, hospital boards mandated its completion. Much of the assessment, operational development, and subsequent change associated with this task were under-estimated. Meanwhile, significant strides in technology and infrastructure have occurred. Hospitals have now faced the reality this is a much broader situation that cannot be resolved solely by implementation solutions, i.e., CPOE, because it represents a cultural and operational shift that has thus far not been realized.

While their expectations are not initially clear, the attention to positive patient identification, redesign, the relationship to core measures and a system build have become questions in the minds of our clients. As they are guided through the process, both operationally and with our extensive knowledge of the versions of MEDITECH, the assessment becomes their guidepost to a sustainable build. An example of this is the maturation of the EDM product. While it is well known to Navin, Haffty & Associates, MEDITECH clients without the benefit of our client network may not be familiar with the product evolution, leading them to make an evaluation based on hearsay and the vendor sales pitch. Being MEDITECH-centric and having operational and other vendor experience in management and consulting pool, Navin, Haffty & Associates brings a cultural awareness to new implementations that other consulting firms may not comprehend nor appreciate.
